JDMdesign ("we," "us," or "our") makes Scallywag Seas: Sink or Plunder, a cartoon pirate strategy game for iPhone and iPad, with Android to follow. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you play the game or visit this website (together, the "Services"), how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Scallywag Seas has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your captain, progress and settings stay on your device.
- Online matches pass through our relay server, which only knows an anonymous device token, the captain name you picked and the match itself, and deletes rooms soon after they close.
- The only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us: an email address if you sign up on this website, and anything you write to support.
1. In the game
- Progress and settings (your captain, ships, realms, treasure and achievements) are saved on your device. We cannot see them.
- Online play (private rooms with a code, and Quick Match) goes through our relay server. The first time you play online your device gets a random, anonymous token; the server stores only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it. A room holds its six-character code, the captain names of the two players and the match messages, which the server passes from one player to the other and deletes as they are read. It also keeps a salted, scrambled form of your IP address for two hours to stop abuse. If Quick Match can't find a captain who picked the same rules within about half a minute, a computer-controlled captain takes the other side so you can still play; that match runs on your device alone and nothing about it is sent to the server.
- Nearby play connects two devices directly over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Nothing goes through us.
- Pass and Play and battles against the computer happen entirely on your device.
- Purchases, if the game offers any, are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.
- Reminders are optional local notifications scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
2. On this website
- Android launch list. If you ask to hear when the Android version launches, we email you a link to confirm, and you are only added once you follow it. We store your email address, what you asked to hear about, when you signed up and confirmed, whether you are subscribed, a record of the emails we sent you, and a shortened, hashed form of your IP address used only to stop abuse of the form.
- iPhone and iPad beta. If you ask to test the game on TestFlight, we store the same details plus your beta request, and once you confirm we add your email address to the game's tester list in App Store Connect so Apple can send you a TestFlight invite. Apple handles TestFlight under its own privacy policy.
- What we send. Launch announcements, beta news and the occasional news about the game. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and you can also leave on the unsubscribe page.
- Challenge links. A
/join/link only shows a room code that is already in the link. Opening it stores nothing. - This website uses no cookies for visitors, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Our host keeps standard server logs for security.
3. How long we keep it
- Unconfirmed signups are deleted after 30 days.
- Online rooms close after 10 idle minutes and are deleted an hour after closing; anonymous device tokens unused for 180 days are forgotten.
- If you unsubscribe we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so it is never emailed by mistake. Ask us and we will delete it completely.
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Email goes out through our mail provider, and beta testers' addresses go to Apple for TestFlight. Otherwise we share information only if the law requires it.
5. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask us to show, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to support@jdmdesign.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California) you may have further rights, and we honour them for everyone.
6. Children
The game is cartoon fun for all ages and does not ask players for personal information. The signup forms on this website are meant for adults; if you think a child has signed up, write to us and we will delete the address.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions? Email support@jdmdesign.com.
